We are through!
What a nail-biting finish we had on Sunday. We had two dis-allowed goals against Oxford and in the end, drew 1-1. Oxford were happy with the result with 2 losses and 1 draw instead of a probable 3 losses they were expecting to face. However, this meant that we (1 loss and 1 draw) had to beat Cambridge(1 win 1 loss) and vice versa for either team to get into the semis. The figures all sound complicating and it took a while for us to sort it out to assure ourselves that we were still in the tournament. James, our coach, was absent that day and we had to make sure we kept the morale up in the team throughout the match. With 1 minute to go, we were tied 5-5 with Cambridge but thankfully scored in the last minute. As always, in line with UL tradition, we always leave till the last minute to taste victory. It was definitely emotional once the final whistle was blown and I'm sure everyone was proud of the team as a whole. It is definitely such moments where teamwork triumphs in the end what makes team sports such an 'addiction', the feeling of patriotism and success reaped from hard work put in, not to mention the friendships forged with intimate experiences like this.
