Lake District June 2006

This was meant to be a trip to reward myself at the end of my final year project. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't too great...cloudy more than sunny so the pics look pretty gloomy, doesn't do justice to the beauty of Lake District really. Keswick is a very nice town and I highly recommend this town over all the rest!

Castlerigg stone circle: the less majestic version of stonehenge, but you get to get up close with the stones! Up till now, no one knows why these stone circles exist!

One of the lakes: Derwent Water

Attempted to climb Hellvelyn, 2nd highest peak in Lake District. Unfortunately the cloud cover was too low and it got really misty and rainy as we neared the top. Best to go on a clear day where the view is supposed to be magnificent. We were already impressed at halfway, will have to go back another day hopefully.

It's supposed to be the start of summer! Not cold and rainy! BRRRR.....didn't bring enough warm clothes for the cold. Hid in the comforts of our room and took in the views from the window. =)

Ambleside: another lovely small little town.

Grasmere Gingerbread, can smell it 100s of metres away!
