the day started with the turning back of the clock by one hr so that we will have more sunlight hours during winter. managed to sleep sightly more in lieu of this...but still woke up sleepy and tired...
headed for hillsong church with val....was totally perked up by the reverberating rhythms and great sound system in the building...felt totally rejuvenated and listened to a fantastic message on 'Humanity At It's Best'. it was really quite a wake up call as to how to lead a proper christian life other than just reading the bible and going to church...v.gd...i think i'll be sticking to this church from now on.
rushed back to hall to pack my waterpolo bag and to give my mum a call....haha...was tickled when she asked me if i found a bf...haha...funny how she has totally changed her opinion on bgr ever since the end of my a levels...anyway...really glad to see that my younger bro is studying hard for his chinese o levels now..he was actually studying at 2am!! wow..*impressed* yao jia you!!
reached the pool late due to some technical delay on the tube(mrt)which is a common occurence here. should make some kind of time allowance when i travel by tube next time...finally played a proper game today..complete with referee and 2,4,7m markings. it was an all-girls match of university of london(ulu) vs oxford university.
*oOf*...at the stArt of the match i faced a formidable opponent already...she was quite some defender..cldnt' really get past her initially...plus..she was pulling my costume!! gee...the way oi leng does...but she's even worse....when i fought with her for the ball..she juz grabbed my costume at the front and pulled across my chest so she could get past me..like i'm some sort of pivot for her....gee...outrage of modesty!! grr....hmph....shall wear my tyr polo costume next time..then she won't be able to do that...ooh..talking abt costume...i'm abt to get a turbo costume for like 27 quid!! cool...apparently it's black with a polo ball in the centre...=))
game lasted for 4 quarters...we change sides every quarter..dun really see the pt of it..and they are allowed to sub players in at any pt of the game too...which is good for the tired...anyway..the game turned out to be very exhausting for me cos i ended up swimming quite a lot...supporting the goalie and then breaking in...my stamina is really bad now..could feel myself 'dying' toward the end...we've got a relatively good team...our centre(which they call 'pit') is very qiang2!! i'm totally amazed by her dexterity...the way she turns her defender is like..wow...oh...and they do alot of back shots here...we've got two goalkeepers..eh..not too bad..can pass long balls and gk quite well..but i think michelle is alot better...cos here...they dun shoot very hard shots...or care much abt placement(like hitting the corners...etc..)yah....so it's easier for the gk to catch the balls in a sense...
in the end..we won oxford...like 10-1 or mabbe more goals to us..didn't really count...although the score seems one-sided..it was acutally quite an even match or so i thought..yah..good competition...learnt more abt agression definitely...really enjoyed the session...must point out that we've got two really good coaches simon and pam who give briefings and debriefings before and after the match...and they constantly give pointers throughout the whole match; like when you sub out they will come over to you and tell you your mistake and what you shld do to correct it..yah...i really like their way of coaching...
to the polo girls back in singapore>>if you guys do plan on coming over...i think the london clubs are abt our standard...mabbe their swimming is not as fast..but they've got pretty good ball skills...plus they've got superb coaching..yah...so if you guys manage to get a budget or sth..tell me ok..then i'll try to set up sth for you all...sometime mabbe when zhiqian is in uk too.
ok..enough abt polo..came back to a delicious dinner at southwell hall..heh..kind of free-loaded on their international dinner event..where residents cook dishes characteristic of the country they come from..not bad at all.heh.enxin and me didn't bring over our cutlery...so ended up sharing a bowl and one spoon with val..surprising how we managed to feed ourselves..but the food was delicious i must say...went up to val's room to 'chill'..chatted together with val's room mate wenjing...haha..she's really funny..and oh..she's really good at extracting information from val..hehe..
back in the hall now after going to sainsbury for 23p bread and to replace my missing toiletries...feeling dead beat now....should rest my muscles...they feel like they are cramping up...
